1/27/2024 - Facebook Photo (Episode 1913 "Pictured Rocks: The East End")

Been far too long but as one who grew up around Sleeping Bear the Log Slide was cool. Also very fond of Twelvemile Beach, it was a magical place for a family picnic back in the 60s, with the birches and dipping our feet in frigid Gitche-Gumee. Tough to get to back then, over those old dusty trails. Would love to get back there.

This is a great channel! This is a great video. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of Michigan to us. I’m from California and am unable to travel. But my body craves places like these. And you know, people believe that these places aren’t “worth the trip” zones, cause the views it has or the trails aren’t the flipping Grand Canyon or something. But by all means it’s amazing to see you say that you are hiking on one of the Great Lakes! So beautiful. Would love to be there right now. And must I say it’s also about the people. A lot of nature and parks may look “similar” but the people we find are certainly unique.

Always enjoy the shows. Thank you for NOT having background music in the program when there is talking. I've written other programs to complain about the background music making it very hard for people to hear the vocals, especially anyone with any kind of hearing issue ie: hearing aids, ringing in the ears etc. so a BIG thank you.

Hi Tom. What was the previous name of Great Getaways oh maybe 15 years ago? Can I watch previous episodes? There was a kewl show about shipwrecks on Lake Superior I would like to watch. Thank you.

Our show was called "Northern Experience" before it became Great Getaways. You can find information about episodes of Great Getaways in our online archive and you can watch many past episodes at our YouTube Channel. The show that you remember about shipwrecks might have been a PBS special called "Ghosts & Guardians" produced by Great Getaways which is no longer available.I hope that information is helpful. Thanks for watching Great Getaways!
